The NSW Rural Medical Family Network or RMFN for short, aims to address the needs of NSW rural medical spouses and their families in order to recruit and retain doctors in rural NSW.

RMFN provides support and assistance to rural medical families in NSW and also offers assistance to medical students interested in experiencing rural general practice.

RMFN is a not for profit, non government organisation with around 900 members.

Whether you are a rural medical family of many years or just starting out in country life, RMFN will support you. 

RMFN offers -

• Great family and kids programs at NSW Rural Doctors Network CPD conference weekends.
• Spouse retraining and/or education grants, through the BushSkills program.
• Seasonal Newsletters ‘In the Family Way’.
• Crisis assistance for rural doctors and their families who are stressed or ill.
• Meet and greet gatherings.
• A friendship network to lessen feelings of loneliness and isolation experienced by some rural families. The online network can be reached through Facebook.
• Free membership to RMFN for spouses and families of rural GPs.

RMFN is funded by the Australian Department of Health and Ageing, via the NSW Rural Doctors Network. RMFN works in conjunction with the NSW Rural Doctors Network, the NSW Rural Doctors Association  and all the Rural Divisions of General Practice in NSW.
